All NAYLE sessions in 2010 will
also be open to Venturing youth. Venturing members who have not yet been
able to take NYLT may take a special “NYLT to NAYLE Bridge Course” to
fulfill the NYLT requirement for 2010 and 2011 NAYLE sessions. The
syllabus will be posted online before the end of February.
Looking for more information on
NAYLE? An information sheet and video are both available on this page.

Have you heard of one of the best
kept training secrets of the BSA? Well, every month on our national BSA
Web site we have a great resource for Cub Scout leaders and parents called
“CubCast.” This is an audio podcast that features a variety of how-to and
informational topics for Cub Scout leaders and parents. To access this
very innovative way to gain Cub Scout knowledge and ideas from other
volunteers from across the country, go to the following link: www.scouting.org/scoutcast.aspx or click on the
purple icon in the upper corner of the training page.
Over 50 hardy Scouters braved the
elements of the Florida Sea Base for the Volunteer Development Training
Conference a few weeks ago. Sunshine was in abundance all week and the
temperatures hit the low 80s by the end of the week. The week of Jan.
17-22, 2011, has already been reserved for next year, so make your plans
to be there.
Twenty pilot councils have begun
the task of requiring training for their top leaders, and we are hearing
good early reports. Training records continues to be the No. 1 issue, and
we are working very hard to resolve that problem. Some training teams have
named themselves SWAT teams, which stands for “Scouts Want Adults
Trained.” SWAT hats are being designed for training teams that would like
to order them.
